2) WCU Faculty Development Award. "Cultured cardiac myocytes: a model system useful for the study of heart disease." Awarded 765.00 for the purchase of a tissue homogenizer. Period of support= July '87- Dec '87.
3) SSHE Faculty Development Award. "Cultured cardiac myocytes: a model system useful for the study of heart disease." Awarded 700.00 for the purchase of tissue culture supplies. Period of support = May 1987- May 1988.
4) WCU Research and Publication Award. "Cellular Mechanisms of Sudden Death in Ischemic Heart Disease." Awarded 3495.00 for the purchase of a vibration isolation table. Period of Support = May 1988.
5) Academic Research Enhancement Award (National Institutes of Health/ Heart, Lung, and Blood) "Long-chain acylcarnitines and arrhythmogenesis". Awarded 49,933.00 for the purchase of equipment and supplies for cardiovascular research. Period of support = Sept. '88- Sept. '90.
6) WCU Faculty Development Award. "Development of a cardiac arrhythmia model in the rat for the study of the mechanisms responsible for sudden death following coronary occlusion." (co-authored with Elise Triano). Awarded 1000.00 for supplies. Period of support = July '89- Dec. '89.
7) WCU RAPC grant. " Mechanisms of arrhythmias during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion." Awarded 1/4 release time Fall '89 and Spring '90.

13) SSHE Social Equity grant for Inquiry Summer V (1995, $20,000). This 3-week residential program provided an in-depth summer research experience for 14 high school students of color.
